Art therapist Rodney E. J. Chang has written a novel, "PYGOYA : a novel of rebel art & the supernatural" , to help promote his work. In his blog post "Promote Your Art by Writing a Novel" he suggests that other artists should "write a book about your work within the context of a fictitious story instead of the usual autobiography".
Rodney has published the book himself through BookSurge.com, a part of Amazon, who specialize in inventory-free book publishing, printing, fulfillment and distribution.
It will be interesting to see how successful the book is, both as a novel, as a means of promoting his art, and as a means of promoting art in general. Jose Freitas Cruz makes the comment that
"There is enough confusion/cheating/decieving... in the art world as it is and a fictionalised view of who we are only helps to feed the dangerous game that was discussed in Hyacinth Baron's last blog."
